- Bahçe bitkilerini (meyvecilik, sebzecilik, bağcılık ve süs bitkileri alanlarındaki bitkileri) tanır, yetiştirir, pazarlar ve depolar,bahçe bitkileri alanında yetiştiricilik, pazarlama ve depolama sırasında karşılaşılabilecek problemlerin çözümüne yönelik, gerekli verileri tanımlar ve toplar.
- Oluşan sorunları gidermek için mevcut bilgi teknolojilerinden yararlanarak en uygun yöntemi veya yöntemleri belirler ve kullanır.
- Bahçe bitkileri ile ilgili yeni bilgiler edinme, bahçe bitkilerinde verimlilik ve kalitenin yükseltilmesine yönelik yöntem ve teknolojiler geliştirme, benzer amaçlı ıslah ve yeni çeşitler elde etmek üzere temel bilgilere sahip olup, bu amaçlara yönelik temel ve uygulamalı araştırmalar yapabilir.
- Bahçe bitkileri ile ilgili faaliyet gösteren herhangi bir kuruluşta veya tarım işletmesinde tesis, üretim, derim, sınıflandırma, ambalajlama, muhafaza, depolama, değerlendirme ve pazarlama faaliyetleriyle ilgili etüd, planlama ve projelendirme işleriyle, bunların uygulama ve kontrolü işlemlerini yapabilir,kişisel ve mesleki alanda bağımsız davranma, insiyatif kullanma ve yaratıcılık becerisini geliştirme özelliğine sahiptir,en az bir yabancı dili temel düzeyde bilip, geliştirme becerisine sahiptir,bilgisayar ve bilişim teknolojilerini kullanabilme ve geliştirebilme becerisiyle, bunların mesleki alanda kullanım kapasitesine sahiptir.
