The Department of Physical Education and Sports Education is an interdisciplinary field covering topics such as educational sciences, educational psychology, sports psychology, human anatomy and kinesiology, exercise physiology, training science, psychomotor development, and principles and methods of teaching.

The department aims to ensure that its graduates are not only equipped with professional knowledge but also become qualified, inquisitive, and capable individuals who can quickly find accurate solutions to problems, follow scientific and technological developments, and are modern, productive, and well-rounded.

Education and training are conducted in the form of formal, open, or distance education, with theoretical courses occurring in classrooms and practical courses occurring in halls. In addition, students are given practical training as internship training.

The Eskisehir Technical University Undergraduate Education-Teaching and Exam Regulation, which was published in the Official Gazette on September 19, 2018, is applied regarding the measurement and evaluation methods applied in the courses in the program, success grades and exams.

Article number 18 of the regulation explains the success evaluation:

The type and percentage information of the midterm and final exams, homework, practice, etc. evaluations of the courses are entered into the student information system database by the instructor giving the course within the first 2 weeks of the term and announced to the students on the course introduction page over the internet. The contribution of the midterm evaluations to the success grade cannot be less than 30% and more than 60%. In applied courses where only a final exam is held, the contribution of the final exam to the success grade is 100%. The student's course success is determined with one of the letter grades by the instructor who teaches the course, considering the general success level of all students taking that course. The letter grades and related coefficients to the success level are as follows:

letter grade evaluations can also be made.

The measurement and evaluation methods used for each course in the program are defined and shared by the relevant faculty member in the Eskisehir Technical University ECTS package and the course syllabus on the department web page.

The program systematically evaluates the knowledge, skills, analytical thinking, critical evaluation and creativity capacities of the students and documents this success with a 4.00 grading system. In project-based courses, the methods of measuring success include assignments and presentations system. Written exams, assignments and other evaluation tools are used in theoretical and practical courses.

Criterion-based evaluation, multiple measurement methods and feedback mechanisms are applied to ensure transparency and fairness in the evaluation processes. The criteria are determined at the beginning of the semester and announced to the students. In practical courses such as project courses, the jury members make their evaluations independently and the results are calculated with the arithmetic mean. Online tools and rubric systems support and facilitate the evaluation process. Students can exercise their right to appeal within three days of the announcement of grades; official appeals can be made within five working days of the announcement of exam results. Documents are archived for two years against appeals.

If students apply for courses and grades, they have taken from other higher education institutions in Turkey or abroad within the first week of their final registration to Eskisehir Technical University, their credit and grade transfer requests will be evaluated by the relevant education unit's board of directors and a decision will be made once and covering their entire education.

For the oversight of the quality of higher education programs:

• YÖK (Council of Higher Education) is responsible for the planning, organization, management, and supervision of education and other activities conducted in higher education institutions.

• "University Monitoring and Evaluation Reports" of higher education institutions are published annually based on criteria determined by YÖK. These reports include both quantitative and qualitative evaluations of higher education institutions and are shared with the public by YÖK.

Quality assurance of undergraduate programs in higher education is ensured according to the "Principles and Procedures for Ensuring the Quality Assurance of Higher Education Diploma Programs":

1. Establishment and Approval of Educational Programs:

1.1. YÖK (Council of Higher Education) determines the minimum standards and criteria required for the opening of undergraduate departments and programs in higher education institutions.

1.2. The curriculum of undergraduate programs in higher education institutions and the learning outcomes each program will provide to students are determined by the senates of higher education institutions in accordance with the basic principles set by YÖK.

1.3. After the curriculum of National Core Education Programs is approved by the relevant Deans' Council, it is implemented by higher education institutions with the approval of YÖK.

2. Measurement and Evaluation: The measurement and evaluation of the learning outcomes that each undergraduate program will provide to students are conducted in accordance with the education and examination regulations prepared by higher education institutions, in line with the basic principles set by YÖK (Council of Higher Education).

3. Certification: Upon successfully completing the course credits and other obligations determined by higher education institutions, students enrolled in undergraduate programs receive a bachelor's degree.

4. Self-Assessment - External Assessment: Higher education institutions enter the "Institutional Internal Evaluation Reports" for the previous year into the Information System prepared by the Higher Education Quality Board (YÖKAK) at the beginning of each year in the context of continuous monitoring. YÖKAK shares the "Institutional Feedback Report" prepared by higher education institutions regarding external evaluation with the public. In addition, accreditation decisions issued by accreditation bodies authorized or recognized by YÖKAK also demonstrate the quality assurance of program qualifications. YÖKAK conducts regular review activities regarding the qualifications determined by legislation.

• To have received sufficient points as a result of the central examination conducted by ÖSYM for the programs of higher education institutions that accept students through special talent examination, the procedures and principles of which are determined by YÖK, and to have passed the special talent examination.
• To have graduated from secondary education institutions or foreign secondary education institutions whose equivalence is approved by the Ministry of National Education and to have met the conditions for admission to undergraduate programs of higher education institutions

Graduates of the Department of Physical Education and Sports Teaching can work as physical education teachers in schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education, as coaches by obtaining coaching certificates from relevant federations, or as coaches or sports specialists in the Education Department and other units of the General Directorate of Youth and Sports. Additionally, they can pursue careers as academic staff or research assistants in Physical Education and Sports programs at universities.

Those holding a bachelor's degree can continue to master's programs and, if they meet the necessary requirements, pursue doctoral and proficiency in arts programs that accept bachelor's degree holders.
