• Have an advanced level of knowledge about the recent and best practices in Biology, deepen and expand their knowledge on the expert level, conduct and assess the analyses by employing statistical methods.
• Plan experiments and carry out original researches in the field by making use of the theoretical and practical knowledge at the expert level that they have obtained in their field.
• Make use of the knowledge they have in order to find a solution to problems by analyzing, comparing and questioning them and can carry out original research in the related field on their own.
• Have the qualification and capability to gain admission to doctoral programs, R&D units or occupations related to the field with the knowledge they have gathered in the field.
• Evaluate the knowledge and skills in a critical way in every activity regarding the field, thereby guiding their learning.
• Are able to communicate in at least one foreign language in verbal and written terms on B1 level in the European Language Portfolio Are able to make use of computer software as well as communication and information technology required by the field of Biology at an advanced level.
• Evaluate how the important personalities, events and phenomena that have made essential contributions to the development of Biology that might have impact on their field of practice.
• Transfer in a systematical way the latest developments in Biology and their field of study reinforcing with qualitative and quantitative data to the groups either concerned with the field or not by verbal, visual and written means.
• Monitor and supervise the social, scientific, cultural and ethical values in the process of collecting, interpreting, implementing and publishing the data related to the field of Biology and teach those values.

The goals of the department: are to graduate master of biologists who are able to demonstrate the ability of describing, explaining, applying, criticizing, deciding and teaching the basic principles of general biology and five sub-divisions (General Biology, Molecular Biology, Botany, Zoology and Hydrobiology). The related degree provides rights and privileges to practice the profession. It educates student to be employed in the areas where biology is included. Department does its internal and external movements under dean's office and Rectorate. Biology Department's partnerships can be summarized as TUBITAK (Turkish Research Council), DPT (State Planning Agency), employing companies, universities, hospitals, research institutions, governmental institutions, former graduates, biology organizations. Departmental faculty has strong interest in and demonstrated excellence in teaching and research. Department use the state-of-the-art technology in laboratory classes. The Department has an outstanding record of attracting research grants from NÜ research funds and TUBITAK. The Department has a well-developed program for providing research opportunities to graduate students and so foster student to own MSc in Biology and earn their life in academic career.

At least once a year, department of Biology accepts graduate students. Graduate School announces the number of student for MsC in Department of Biology. After admissions, it accepts the announced number of student for MsC in biology. Candidates should have at least CGPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00. Candidates are listed based on the sum of 55 % of the grade obtained from the National Academic and Graduate Entry Examination (ALES) and 45 % of the CGPA of the bachelor's degree. Student with a certificate of English proficiency may access to MsC programs directly, otherwise they need to go English preparatory school. For admission to MsC program: - 1) Bachelor's Degree in acceptable fields 2) Sufficient score from the National Academic Staff & Graduate Education Exam (ALES) 3) English proficiency.

It is possible for the students who have graduated from our department to be employed in: - Universities - Public and private hospitals (Laboratories, test-tube centers, genetic diagnostic centers,) - Private sectors (food & drug factories, R&D salespersons, environmental advisors ) - Ministries of (Environment & Forestry, Agriculture & Village Affairs, Health) - Research centers and institutes, TÜBİTAK, DPT and DSİ (State Hydraulic Works), Municipalities - Schools as teachers (if they have received pedagogical formation) The graduates of this program are also appointed as civil servants in public institutions provided they have received the necessary score on KPSS (Public Personnel Selection Examination)
