• The student will demonstrate knowledge of the nature of hearing disorders and possess knowledge of the principles and methods of prevention, assessment, and intervention for people 4 with hearing disorders.
• The student will demonstrate knowledge of the nature of communication disorders and possess knowledge of the principles and methods of prevention, assessment, and intervention for people with communication disorders.
• The student will demonstrate knowledge of the nature of swallowing disorders and possess knowledge of the principles and methods of prevention, assessment, and intervention for people with swallowing disorders.
• The student will demonstrate knowledge and consideration of the social, cultural and cognitive aspects of communication for people with language and communication disorders.
• The student will demonstrate knowledge of the nature and use of communication modalities including oral, manual, and assistive technologies.
• The student will demonstrate knowledge of how to write and implement clear and effective intervention plans, with measurable and achievable goals.
• The student will demonstrate the knowledge of biological and physiological basis of human health, Code of Ethics in this profession and the knowledge that it is his/her responsibility to ensure that the physical environment is appropriate and safe for screening, assessment, therapy and intervention, thereby providing safe and quality care.
• The student will demonstrate knowledge of processes used in research and the integration of research principles into evidence-based clinical practice.

The measurement and evaluation methods applied for each course are described in the Course Teaching Plan which is prepared by the related lecturer and included in the information package. The relevant articles of Biruni University Undergraduate Education-Examination and Examination Regulations are applied in connection with exams and course grades.Students are required to be successful in all program courses and not to have any FF grade. Also, students are responsible to complete 240 ECTS credits and to have at least 2,00 Grade Point Average.

Students must comply with the legal and academic requirements to access the studies in Biruni University according to the process established by the ÖSYM (Higher Education Council Student Selection and Placement Centre) regulations. Students who have started studies in other universities within or outside the country may apply for their recognition. The recognition record is unique for each student and therefore the procedure is carried out accordingly before the start of each academic year. More information about general admission requirements can be found in the catalogue of Information on the Institution. Under an established exchanges program or one approved by the University, exchange students from abroad may be accepted for studies on the courses taught in English. Or, if they are confident in Turkish, they may then enroll in any courses, running in Turkish, shown on the Course Structure diagram. For the present, the courses are taught in Turkish.

Students studying language and speech therapy usually choose to be a language and speech therapist and practice this profession. There are still a lot of vacancies in this profession group in our country. Language and speech therapists have a wide range of employment opportunities, covering various workplaces and age groups from very young children to older people. They can work as therapists for people, who have undergone surgery in ear, nose, throat clinics and require voice therapy or for patients with dysphagia. By working as a school-based therapist, they can provide therapy to children with language and speech problems. They may consider working in these schools or in the Guidance and Research Centers of the Ministry of National Education as a therapist assessing such childrens development in cooperation with teachers. They can also choose to work with children and / or adults in their own therapy centers or at special rehabilitation centers which provide service to children and / or adults who have special needs and difficulties in acquiring language and speech skills due to their disability.
