The aim of the program is to train graduates who are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to serve as dental prosthesis technicians; who have developed a sense of professional and ethical responsibility; who follow and interpret technological and social developments; who use information and communication technologies effectively; who are capable of establishing effective verbal communication; who are inclined to teamwork; and who perceive lifelong learning as a way of life.

In the Dental Prosthetics Technology program, theoretical instruction is delivered in classroom settings, while practical training takes place in modern, well-equipped dental prosthetics laboratories. Furthermore, through sectoral collaborations, students are offered voluntary internships and/or workplace-based training in public and private healthcare institutions, dental laboratories, and related industrial organizations. These multifaceted learning environments enable students to gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, thereby preparing them for professional life after graduation.

A graduate of the program:

• Is equipped with fundamental knowledge in the field of dental prosthetics and is competent in applying this knowledge.
• Demonstrates proficiency in accessing information and technology related to the field and in utilizing laboratory equipment and tools.
• Is capable of effective communication with healthcare professionals—particularly physicians—as well as with patients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
• Is competent in recognizing dental prosthetic instruments and equipment and in keeping up with relevant technological advancements.
• Possesses and applies ethical principles and professional values.
• Is proficient in working as part of a team.
• Demonstrates accountability and professional responsibility.
• Has developed the habit of following professional knowledge and advancements in the field.

    The types of examinations and their contribution to course success grades are determined by the senates of higher education institutions in accordance with the core principles established by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).

    Various assessment tools such as assignments, projects, practical applications, midterm exams, and final examinations are employed.

    Student achievement is evaluated using grading systems based on letters and/or numerical values.

To ensure the quality of higher education programs:

    The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) is responsible for the planning, regulation, management, and supervision of educational and other institutional activities in Turkish higher education institutions.

    In accordance with the criteria set by YÖK, annual University Monitoring and Evaluation Reports are published. These reports include both quantitative and qualitative assessments of universities and are publicly disclosed.

    Each year, YÖK also publishes the Foundation Higher Education Institutions Report, which includes academic, administrative, and financial data concerning foundation universities, along with comprehensive evaluations, and makes these publicly available.

The quality assurance of associate degree programs in higher education is carried out in line with the Regulation on the Procedures and Principles for Quality Assurance of Higher Education Diploma Programs:

    Curriculum Development and Approval

    1.1 YÖK establishes the minimum standards and requirements for the opening of associate degree departments and programs.

    1.2 The curricula of associate degree programs and the learning outcomes expected from each diploma program are determined by the senates of higher education institutions, in accordance with the core principles set by YÖK.

    1.3 The curriculum of National Core Education Programs is implemented by higher education institutions upon approval by YÖK.

    Assessment and Evaluation

    The methods used for assessing and evaluating the learning outcomes of each associate degree program are carried out according to the academic and examination regulations prepared by higher education institutions, aligned with the core principles set by YÖK.

    Certification

    Students enrolled in associate degree programs are awarded an associate degree diploma upon successfully completing the required course credits and other academic obligations defined by the institution.

    Self-Assessment and External Evaluation

    In the context of continuous monitoring, higher education institutions input their Institutional Self-Evaluation Reports for the previous academic year into the Information System developed by the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) at the beginning of each new academic year.

    YÖKAK also publishes the Institutional Feedback Report, prepared as part of external evaluation procedures.

    Additionally, accreditation decisions granted by accreditation agencies authorized or recognized by YÖKAK confirm that the programs meet quality assurance standards. YÖKAK carries out periodic review activities in line with its legislative framework and specified qualification standards.

Students are admitted to the program based on their high school diploma grades and scores obtained from the YGS-2 (Transition to Higher Education Examination, Score Type 2), particularly from Vocational Health High Schools.

Graduates are entitled to establish their own dental prosthetics laboratories. Additionally, they may work in dental prosthetics laboratories within public institutions such as state hospitals, dental hospitals, and university hospitals, as well as in private dental laboratories operated by the private sector.

The program’s curriculum, learning outcomes, and evaluation processes are aligned with the Turkish Qualifications Framework and are monitored and evaluated in accordance with the regulations set by the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK).

The qualification is valid indefinitely.
