Key Learning Outcomes;

Graduates of the programs will be able to;

1. Identify and inter-relate design criteria so as to translate these into a well-defined design problem.
2. Critically evaluate interior design processes in a given environment in terms of physical, structural, social and cultural dimensions and formulate alternative solutions.
3. Differentiate between and choose among various design methodologies in order to employ design research techniques and professional fields of knowledge appropriate to the problem at hand.
4. Communicate abstract thought process through traditional and contemporary representation techniques and apply to various medium.
5. Construct in alternating scales with an understanding of interior design as an integral and wholistic process.
6. Design and experiment with a critical awareness of context, especially when intervening into buildings and sites with historical, social, cultural heritage.
7. Use contemporary design and manufacturing technologies with all their potentials within the 1:1 reality of construction.

Supplementary Learning Outcomes;

Graduates of the programs will be able to;

1. Use contemporary design and manufacturing technologies with all their potentials within the 1:1 reality of construction.
2. Develop an awareness of social responsibilities towards disadvantageous environments for betterment of living conditions.
3. Develop an awareness of the responsibilities of constructing a built environment and of the affects of construction on urban rights, existing urban and natural fabric and cultural heritage.
4. Acquire motivation for life-long learning, research and critical thinking.
5. Employ knowledge on structure, acoustics, lighting and environment control that feeds into the design process.
6. Know laws and legislations related to design and architecture.

(1) High School Diploma (2) Placement through a nation-wide Student Selection and Placement Examinations (3) Certificate of Istanbul Bilgi University English Language Exam (BILET) or acceptable score of TOEFL or similar internationally recognised exams (4) For graduates of short-cycle degree programmes from the same or related fields of studies of vocational schools (MYOs), placement through a nation-wide Vertical Transfer Examination (Dikey Geçiş Sınavı) (5) For foreign students, placement by direct applications of candidates to the university and assessment by the university within the frameworks of the publicly available national and institutional regulations published on the university’s web site

Graduates of the department of Interior Design at Bilgi, educated in close contact with the departments of Architecture and Industrial Design, have the chance to find career opportunities in architectural, design and construction offices in and out of Turkey. In addition to jobs focused on interior space making, they can also specialize in rehabilitation and re-use of already existent structures; stage and exhibition design; design of temporary structures; furniture and modular systems design and technical issues in interiors. Their training focused on ‘learning through making’ and ‘life-long learning’ equips our graduates with self-confidence to have a critical and innovative approach to their career.

Qualification is valid indefinitely.
