- İktisadın farklı alt alanlarındaki standart teorik model, kavram ve analizlerle ilgili temel bilgi ve yöntemlere hâkim olmak.
- İktisatla ilgili temel ekonometrik ve zaman serisi analiz aletleri ile temel bilgisayar paket programlarının kullanımına hâkim olmak.
- İktisat biliminin gelişiminde öne çıkmış olan iktisatçıların ve ekollerin arasındaki farklılık ve etkileşimler hakkında temel bilgilere sahip olmak.
- Türkiye, Avrupa ve genelde dünya ekonomilerinin gelişimiyle ilgili temel iktisadi tarih bilgilerine ve analiz yaklaşımlarına hâkim olmak.
- Güncel temel sektörel, ulusal ve küresel ekonomik sorun, eğilim ve gelişmeleri izleyerek muhtemel sebep-sonuç ilişkilerini anlayacak ve teorik, tarihî ve uygulamalı temel analiz aletlerini kullanarak değerlendirebilecek ve tartışabilecek durumda olmak.
- Ekonomik gelişme ve etkileşimleri anlayabilmek ve analiz edebilmek için konuları disiplinler-arası bir yaklaşımla ele almanın rol ve önemini kavramış olmak.
- İktisadi konularda kaynak/literatür taraması ve istatistiksel veri araştırması yapabilmek için gerekli temel araç, kaynak ve yöntem bilgilerine hâkim olmak.
- Farklı kamusal ve profesyonel ortamlarda iktisadi konularda yazılı ve sözlü olarak açık, ikna edici ve etkili iletişim ve raporlama becerilerine sahip olmak.
- Metin yazma, tablo-grafik hazırlama ve sunum dosyası oluşturma gibi temel bilgisayar kullanım bilgilerine ve internet arama ve iletişim yöntemlerine hâkim olmak.
- Almancanın yanı sıra, iktisatta en geçerli dil olan İngilizceyi de yazılı ve sözlü olarak başarıyla kullanabilecek kadar öğrenmiş olmak.
Türk-Alman Üniversitesi İktisat Bölümü henüz mezun vermemiş olmakla birlikte, iktisat bölümü mezunları kamu ve özel sektörde ve uluslararası kuruluşlarda finans, ticaret, denetim gibi çeşitli alanlarda çalışma hayatına başlamaktadırlar.
