- Matematik bilgiyi oluşturmaktan duyulan hazzın farkında olmak ve bu farkındalığı öğrencilere aktarabilmek.
- 11-15 yaş grubundaki öğrencilerin matematik yeterlilik düzeyleri ve gereksinimlerini dikkate alarak uygun öğrenme ortamları hazırlayabilmek, yöntem, materyal ve etkinlik örnekleri geliştirebilmek.
- Alan bilgi ve becerisini akademik ortamlarda sunabilecek düzeyde yazılı ve sözlü akademik dil kullanma becerisine sahip olmak.
- Matematik eğitimi ile ilgili öğrenme kuram ve uygulamalarını göz önüne alarak, matematik öğretimine uygun planlama yapabilmek.
- Matematiğin sistematik yapısını kavrayabilmek, konu alanları arasındaki benzerlik ve farklılıkları görebilmek.
- Matematik öğretiminde kullanılan alana yönelik ve/ya farklı disiplinleri kapsayabilecek nitel ve/ya nicel bilimsel araştırmalarda veri toplama, bu verileri uygun yöntemlerle değerlendirme ve bu yöntemleri karşılaştırabilmeye ilişkin temel becerilere sahip olmak.
- Matematik kavram ve genellemeleri anlamak, birbiriyle ilişkilendirmek ve bunları kullanarak akıl yürütme ve Matematiksel ispat yöntemlerini kullanarak ispat yapabilmek.
- Matematik öğretiminin niteliğini artırmak için, bilgi iletişim teknolojilerini, ilgili bilgisayar yazılımlarını ve internet kaynaklarını kullanabilmek.
- Sınıf yönetimi ile ilgili yönelimleri farklı koşullara göre uyarlayabilmek.
- Sözlü ve yazılı iletişim kurar; en az bir yabancı dili kullanarak bilgi ve iletişim teknolojileri alanındaki bilgileri izler ve meslektaşları ile iletişim kurmak.
- Öğrencilerin program hedeflerine göre ilerlemelerini ölçen, performansa dayalı ölçme araçları da dahil olmak üzere, uygun ölçme ve değerlendirme araç ve yöntemlerini seçip kullanabilmek.
