The program aims to ensure that graduating students achieve the defined educational objectives in the field of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS). In accordance with these objectives:

Students are trained to be individuals who can propose solutions to problems encountered in professional practice and effectively utilize the necessary technologies in these processes.

Graduates are educated to prioritize social and ethical responsibilities in their professional lives; to be knowledgeable in workplace safety and environmental protection; to act in accordance with OHS legislation; to be proficient in first aid, emergencies, disasters, fire prevention, and evacuation techniques; and to be environmentally conscious and entrepreneurial individuals.

Students are prepared for their professional lives as individuals who embrace lifelong learning, continuously improve themselves in parallel with technological developments, and contribute to societal benefit.

Associate degree graduates of the OHS program are trained to be individuals who are suitable for both individual and teamwork, adaptable to the work environment, capable of taking responsibility, possessing written and verbal communication skills, self-confident, highly motivated, and preferred in the sector.

Educational activities are conducted through both face-to-face and distance learning methods. Courses are held in the relevant classrooms. In addition, students who wish to benefit from the Optional Internship program in the fourth semester are offered the opportunity to undertake an internship during this period

• Possesses sufficient and current knowledge and awareness of occupational health and safety, social rights, quality control and management, environmental protection, first aid and industrial hygiene, periodic maintenance and inspections, safety equipment, occupational diseases, professional ethics, relevant laws and regulations, as well as announcements made by the relevant ministry.
• Demonstrates knowledge of occupational health and safety management systems, hazardous substance and waste management, environmental management systems, innovation management and its processes.
• Utilizes information resources related to the field of occupational health and safety. Monitors relevant announcements and updates and rapidly adapts to revisions and amendments.
• Effectively utilizes information technologies to follow developments in workplace safety and worker health. Employs various risk assessment methods and evaluates them statistically.
• Develops solution proposals for problems related to the field of occupational safety. Assesses the adequacy of measures taken against occupational accidents by conducting field investigations or by examining retrospective hazard/risk outcomes.
• Independently executes a given task/articulates ideas in written or oral form using competent knowledge and skills related to the field of occupational safety.
• Possesses the ability to solve existing problems individually in the field of occupational safety, while also adopting the understanding of working together with a team in solving potential problems.
• Maintains a lifelong learning culture in the field of occupational safety and attends various seminars and meetings for professional development.
• Evaluates various scientific and cultural data and events obtained in the field of occupational safety, with importance given to societal ethical values.
• Possesses foreign language skills at a level sufficient to monitor professional developments and literature in the field of occupational safety and to communicate with colleagues.

• Measurement and evaluation methods, examination types, and their contribution to the course grade are determined by the senates of universities in accordance with the fundamental principles established by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).
• Letter grade and/or numerical grading systems are used in the evaluation of student performance.
• The measurement and evaluation system for each course is detailed on the course's introductory page within the Student Information System (OBS) of our university.
• At least one midterm examination and one final examination are administered for each course. In addition to midterm examinations, quizzes, projects, and other activities deemed appropriate by the faculty member may be conducted. The number of these activities and their contribution to the course grade are specified by the faculty member in the course syllabus.
• The course grade is calculated by taking 40% of the midterm examination score and 60% of the final examination score. All examinations are evaluated out of 100 points.
• The course grade is converted to a letter grade using a relative grading system. In order to pass a course, students must obtain at least a grade of CC. Students with a cumulative grade point average (GANO) of at least 2.00 are also considered to have passed courses with letter grades of (DC) and (DD).

To protect and improve the quality of higher education programs:

• The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) is responsible for planning, organizing, managing, and supervising education, teaching, and other activities carried out in higher education institutions.
• "University Monitoring and Evaluation Reports" for each higher education institution are published annually in accordance with the criteria determined by YÖK. Reports containing quantitative and qualitative evaluations prepared within the framework of these reports are also shared with the public.
• In addition, YÖK publishes the "Report on Foundation Higher Education Institutions" annually, based on academic, administrative, and financial data of foundation higher education institutions. The quantitative and qualitative evaluations made for foundation higher education institutions in these reports are presented for public information.
• Quality assurance of associate degree programs is provided within the framework of the "Procedures and Principles for Ensuring Quality Assurance of Higher Education Diploma Programs." Within this scope:
  1. Development and Approval of Curricula:
     • YÖK determines the minimum standards and criteria required for the opening of associate degree programs in higher education institutions.
     • The curriculum of associate degree programs and the learning outcomes that diploma programs will provide are created by the senates of higher education institutions in accordance with the basic principles determined by YÖK.
     • The curriculum of National Core Education Programs is implemented by higher education institutions with the approval of YÖK.
  2. Measurement-Evaluation:
     • The measurement and evaluation of the learning outcomes of each associate degree program are carried out in accordance with the teaching and examination regulations of higher education institutions, in accordance with the basic principles determined by YÖK.
  3. Certification:
     • Students enrolled in an associate degree program are entitled to receive an associate degree diploma when they successfully complete the course credits and other obligations determined by higher education institutions.
  4. Self-Assessment - External Evaluation:
     • Higher education institutions enter their "Institutional Internal Evaluation Reports" for the previous year into the Information System prepared by the Higher Education Quality Board (YÖKAK) at the beginning of each year in the context of continuous monitoring.
     • YÖKAK publishes the "Institutional Feedback Report" it has prepared regarding the external evaluation of higher education institutions. In addition, accreditation decisions given by accreditation institutions authorized or recognized by YÖKAK indicate that the quality assurance of the qualifications of the programs is ensured.
     • The regular review of the qualifications determined in accordance with YÖKAK legislation is ensured.

The accreditation period of our program, which is accredited by the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Vocational Education (MEDEK), is:

• Applicants must possess a diploma indicating graduation from a high school or equivalent institution.
• Placement into the relevant department is conducted centrally by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) for candidates who have obtained a sufficient score on the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT) administered by ÖSYM.
• Students who meet the requirements for a Double Major Program (ÇAP) are eligible to participate in the double major programs offered by the higher education institutions in which they are enrolled. Students enrolled in these programs can take courses simultaneously from both diploma programs and, if successful, can obtain two separate bachelor's degrees.

• Students who meet the requirements for a Double Major Program (ÇAP) are eligible to participate in the double major programs offered by their higher education institutions. Enrolled students concurrently take courses from both diploma programs and, upon successful completion, are eligible to receive two separate bachelor's degrees.
• Graduates holding an associate degree have the opportunity to continue their education in the following bachelor's degree programs at various universities by taking the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS):

  • Occupational Health and Safety
  • Business Administration
  • Healthcare Management
  • Social Work
  • International Business Management
• Graduates of the occupational health and safety program are eligible to attend Occupational Safety Specialist Training Courses organized under the authority of the relevant Ministry. Upon successful completion of the examination conducted by the Ministry, they are entitled to earn the title of Class C Occupational Health and Safety Specialist. This qualification enables them to make a significant contribution to closing the gap in qualified occupational safety specialists, which is especially needed in the industrial sector. Graduates also have the opportunity to serve as competent technicians in occupational health and safety in all workplaces, including public institutions and the private sector. These roles encompass a wide range of responsibilities, such as contributing to the implementation of occupational health and safety measures for employees, preventing workplace accidents, and developing a general safety culture in the workplace.
