• S/he recognizes the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad and his physical and moral attributes and the historical process of the science of hadith, its methodology, problems, interpretation and its cultural value for the life of a Muslim.
• S/he has an adequate knowledge of the old and new religious and political movements in islamic world in the past and today.
• S/he has a satisfactory knowledge of the history, concepts, institutions, philosophy and main figures of Sufism.
• S/he has knowledge about non-Muslim religions at the level of comparing. S/he has general information about the Turkish-Islamic literature and arts.
• S/he uses the information obtained from Religious education history, religious and modern training methods in the field of religious education.
• S/he can recite the Quran properly and comment within the framework of scientific measurements.

• S/he is able to evaluate issues related to the Islamic history, civilization and science with a critical point of view.
• S/he is able to use information and communication technologies at a level required in the field.
• S/he can evaluate main topics of Islamic law (fiqh) which take place in classical and modern sources, comparing the Islamic law with other legal systems within the framework of comparative law.
• By following not only the works in professional area, but also innovations and developments of social and human sciences participating in the activities in these fields.
• Evaluates the principles of Islamic faith and problems of Theology within the framework of reason and authentic sources using scientific methods.
• S/he has knowledge of Arabic language at the level of understanding classical and modern texts in the field of Theology and uses it in expressing himself/herself in oral and written communication.
• S/he acquires a solid knowledge of a Western European Language at least at the level of B 1 of the European Language Portfolio, using it to follow the information in the field of Theology and communicate with colleagues.
• S/he is able to evaluate Religion and religious issues philosophically, sociologically and psychologically.
• S/he takes in consideration scientific, cultural and ethical values in interdisciplinary research and studies in the field of Religious Studies.

The type of measurement and assesment for each course is defined in detail in ‘Course-Teaching Plan’ in accordance with the Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations, Giresun University.

Candidates must have a high school or an equivalent school diploma and get enough scores/points on the Higher Education Examination (YGS). A Student who begin his education in an equivalent program in Turkey or abroad can appliy to the Student-Transfer or Student-Exchange Program (FARABI/ERASMUS).

Faculty of Islamic Studies offers education on a Islamic Sciences / Theology Undergradute Program. Working areas and employment opportunities of the Faculty of Islamic Studies graduates are quite extensive, with a possibility for graduating students to obtain positions such as Quran Course Instructor, Imam-Preacher, Muezzin, Lecturer, Religious Affairs Expert, Vaiz and Muftu. Or graduates may become a teacher of Religion Culture and Ethics Information in high schools and equal schools, teachers of training classes in the Imam Hatip High Schools. Moreover, they have the opportunity of studying for master and doctoral studies, in order to research at higher levels.
