• The Department of Architecture is subject to the first stage of the degree system of 240 ECTS credits in the field of Architecture in higher education. A bachelor’s degree in architecture is obtained when the program is completed and the program qualifications are met.
• The Department of Architecture aims to educate designers who can proficiently utilize both the creative and technological possibilities inherent in architecture. We strive to train professional people who are prone to teamwork, have developed communication skills, are productive, responsible, researcher, intellectual, innovative, able to produce rational solutions to problems with a critical eye and an analytical approach, have social and environmental responsibility, observe ethical values, and stand out with their designer identity. The Department of Architecture has adopted the principle of preparing students to solve the architectural problems of the constantly developing and transforming contemporary world by providing them with technical and technological knowledge, imagination, environmental and historical sensitivity, creative and critical thinking, social and individual ethics, design and artistic creativity skills.
• The educational approach based on these principles is demonstrated in interdisciplinary architectural design studios that address architectural problems in various scales, with the contribution of architects who take an active role in the field of architecture. Architectural design studios, which form the backbone of the Department of Architecture education, are supported by compulsory/elective theoretical courses and internships that provide practical experience. Extracurricular scientific activities such as workshops, seminars, and conferences organized by the Department of Architecture in national and international environments aim to increase students' level of awareness by supporting the education program and preparing them for professional life in this sense.

• Education and training are carried out in formal, open or distance education. Additionally, practical training such as internships or workplace training is conducted in offices, companies where architects affiliated with the Chamber of Architects work, or public institutions. 

Theoretical, Empirical

• Has the necessary knowledge and understanding to be able to reflect the multidimensional knowledge covering discursive, theoretical, empirical, conceptual knowledge and professional service sensitivities in local, regional, national and global contexts for architectural design/planning activities and research in the relevant essential field to academic sharing environments by gaining from a wide variety of environments.
• Within this framework, they know and understand the intellectual, discursive, scientific, technological, aesthetic, artistic, historical and cultural infrastructure required in the field.
• Has the knowledge and understanding of human and society-oriented, environmentally (natural and built) sensitive architectural design/planning/research methods in the related field.
• Has a multidimensional knowledge and understanding of economic, environmental and social sustainability principles and standards and disaster-related issues in the related field.
• Knows the principles, laws, regulations and standards related to the field.
• Has knowledge and understanding of institutional and ethical values related to the field.
• Has knowledge and understanding of the place/importance of the related field in the historical, geographical, social and cultural context.

Yeditepe University Associate Bachelor’s and Undergraduate, Education-Instruction and Examination Regulation

ARTICLE 37 - (1) (Different Official Gazette. 22.08.2016/29809 no.) Quizzes, midterm exams and final exams are given for the evaluation of the students at faculties and other undergraduate programs of the university. (2) Instructors of each course inform students in written about the weight of midterm exams, final exams, homework, practice and other works in the semester at the beginning of the semester. The weight of the exams and other studies within the semester grade can not be less than 30% and more than 70%.

ARTICLE 42 - (1) A letter grade is given to the students as a success grade from the numerical values of the grades given by the relevant teaching staff for each course they take, taking into account the practice, laboratory and similar studies in the semester and examinations and academic activities.

(3) In addition, the following abbreviations are used depending on the situation of the students:

a) I-Incomplete: It is given to students who cannot complete the course work due to valid excuses. These students are required to complete the requirements of the I grade by the end of the following semester's add / drop date at the latest. Upon completion of the requirements, the student receives the required grade, and if the requirement is not fulfilled by that date, the student's I grade automatically becomes an FF grade.

b) L-Leave: Used for students who are allowed leave according to the provisions of this Regulation.

c) NC-Non-Credit: Used for non-credit courses.

ç) ND-Non-Degree: Used for non-credit courses that are not intended for graduation from Yeditepe University and are not included in the grade average score.

d) P-Pass: Given to students who succeed in courses not included in their GPA.

e) R-Repeat: Indicates that the course is repeated.

f) RR-Repeat Resigned: Used for the repeated courses to raise grades.

g) (Different Official Gazette dated 14.09.2015 / 29475 no.) T-Transfer: Used for the courses from a program inside or outside of the higher education institution and approved for adjustment by the relevant board of directors and added in the grade average calculation. Courses transferred from foreign exchange programs are not included in the grade point average.

ğ) W- Withdrawal: This takes place after the date of add / drop within the period determined by the academic calendar and approved by the advisor. h) X- In Progress for Continuing Projects and Theses: This is given to the students who are continuing their theses and similar studies.

To oversee the quality of higher education programs;

YÖK is responsible for planning, organizing, managing and supervising education, training, and other activities in higher education institutions.

"University Monitoring and Evaluation Reports" of higher education institutions prepared annually within the criteria determined by YÖK are published. The reports prepared according to these reports, including quantitative and qualitative evaluations of higher education institutions, are shared with the public by YÖK.

Every year, YÖK publishes the "Foundation Higher Education Institutions Report", which includes academic, administrative and financial data on foundation higher education institutions. These reports, which include quantitative and qualitative evaluations of foundation higher education institutions, are shared with the public by YÖK. Quality assurance of undergraduate programs in higher education is ensured according to the "Procedures and Principles for Ensuring Quality Assurance of Higher Education Diploma Programs":

1. Creation and Approval of Curricula:

1.1. YÖK determines the minimum standards and criteria required for opening undergraduate departments and programs in higher education institutions.

1.2. The curriculum of undergraduate programs in higher education institutions and the learning outcomes each program will provide students are determined by the senates of higher education institutions following the basic principles defined by YÖK on these issues.

1.3. After the relevant Council of Deans accepts the curriculum of the National Core Curriculum, it is implemented by higher education institutions with the approval of YÖK.

2. Assessment and Evaluation: The measurement and evaluation of the learning outcomes of each undergraduate program are carried out according to the education training and examination regulations prepared by higher education institutions by the fundamental principles determined by YÖK.

3. Certification: Students enrolled in undergraduate programs receive an undergraduate diploma if they successfully complete the course credits and other obligations determined by higher education institutions.

4. Self-Assessment-External Evaluation: In continuous monitoring, higher education institutions enter the "Institutional Internal Evaluation Reports" of the previous year into the Information System prepared by the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) at the beginning of each year. YÖKAK shares the "Institutional Feedback Report" prepared for the external evaluation of higher education institutions with the public. In addition, accreditation decisions issued by accreditation bodies authorized or recognized by YÖKAK also indicate that the quality assurance of the programs' qualifications is ensured. YÖKAK conducts regular review activities regarding the qualifications determined by the legislation.

MIAK accredits architecture programs operating in Turkey. ARCHITECTURAL EDUCATION ACCREDITATION ASSOCIATION, shortly after MiAK, was established on 10.09.2019. Having carried out its activities in cooperation with the TMMOB Chamber of Architects under the name of "Architecture Accreditation Board" between 2006 and 2019, it has gained its independent structure under the roof of the Association as of 2019.  

Yeditepe University Architecture (English) Undergraduate Program has been granted a 2-year Supervised Accreditation. The accreditation history of the program is below:

Applied for 2024 Review

• Students who want to enrol in the department must complete the processes/exams determined by ÖSYM within the framework of the academic and legal legislation of the University. Students who have started their education in an equivalent program at home or abroad can apply for transfer. The students' applications are examined and evaluated individually before the start of the semester, taking into account the conditions of each student and the degree to which they apply. More detailed information about admission to the University is available in the Institutional Catalog.
• Students from abroad within the scope of student exchange programs approved by the University and whose conditions are determined by an agreement can take courses within the program. They can take classes offered in English. The student must have taken the prerequisite courses or their equivalents. All courses in the program curriculum are conducted in English.

Graduates of our department can work in public institutions and the private sector. They can work at various levels in designing, implementing and supervising all types of buildings. At the same time, many students continue their postgraduate studies following their bachelor's degree and receive master's and doctorate degrees in architectural design, urban design and similar fields.
