- Ormancılık sektöründe temel bilgilere sahip, alanıyla ilgili mevzuata uygun davranan, sorunları çözmede ekip üyesi olarak sorumluluk alan, teknik konularda donanımlı, edindiği bilgi ve becerileri orman kaynaklarının sürdürülebilir yönetimi, ekolojik, ekonomik ve sosyal açıdan korunması ve işletilmesinde kullanabilen teknik elemanlar yetiştirmek.
- Ormancılık alanında yeni teknoloji ve yöntemleri kullanabilmek.
- Yaşam boyu öğrenme ilkesinden hareketle, ormancılıkla ilgili ekolojik, ekonomik ve sosyal boyuttaki güncel gelişmeleri takip edebilme ve bu bilgileri ulusal ormancılığın faydası için kullanabilme.
- Bitkilerde hücre ve organ yapısı, yaşamsal faaliyetler, bitki-su-toprak ilişkisi, meteorolojik olaylar, ekoloji ve çevre sorunları ile ilgili temel bilgiye sahip olmak.
- Meslek alanı ile ilgili araştırma yapmak, bilgi toplamak, rapor haline getirmek ayrıca bu raporu hizmet verdiği kurum ve kişilere açık bir şekilde sözlü ve yazılı olarak anlatmak, takım çalışması yapmak.
- Ulusal ve uluslararası ormancılık politikalarını, yasaları ve yükümlülükleri kavramak.
- Ormancılık mesleğinin etik sorumluluğu kapsamında, çevre ve iş güvenliği konularında bilgi ve duyarlılığa sahiptir.
- Orman ekosistemlerini oluşturan unsurları tanımak, bunlar arasındaki ilişkileri yorumlamak ve yaban hayatı konusunda bilgiye sahip olmak.
- Ormanların geliştirilmesini, usulsüz ve kanunsuz müdahalelere, tabii afetlere, yangınlara, muhtelif zararlılara karşı korumak.
- Ormanların, devamlılığını sağlayacak şekilde, teknik ve ekonomik icaplara göre idare edilmesi ve işletilmesinde görev almak.
- Önemli yerli ve egzotik orman ağaç türlerini botanik özellikleri ile tanımak.
YÖK’ün ilgili mevzuatı doğrultusunda ÖSYM tarafından belirlenir.
Bu programdan mezun olanlar Orman ve Su İşleri Bakanlığı ve ilgili Genel Müdürlüklerde Orman Muhafaza Memuru ve özel sektörde Orman Teknikeri olarak çalışmaktadır
