Develops and deepens current and advanced knowledge of private law areas and related disciplines concepts, institutions and methods at the level of original thought and / or research and expertise and achieves original definitions and qualifications including innovations on these concepts, institutions and methods.Analyzes and evaluates the theory and practice of private law fields and related other disciplines by using the research and / or expertise level acquired and reaches new and original results and thoughts.Evaluates and uses the knowledge in research and / or expertise level acquired in private law and other related disciplines with a theoretical and systematic approach.Evaluates a new concept, institution, or method in private law and other related disciplines by a new approach or methodDevelops solutions for legal policy based on theoretical and practical knowledge.Evaluate an existing concept or institution in private law areas and other related disciplines by a new approach or method, or contribute to the theory and practice of law by conducting an original study which investigates a new concept or institution from an original point of view.Students contribute to the development of legal theory and practice by publishing at least one scientific article in journals, which are national or international refereed and / or national or international indexes specific to the field of law, and / or by producing an original work.Develops new ideas and methods by using high level mental processes such as creative and critical thinking, problem solving and decision making in private law and related disciplines.Students defend their original opinions in the field of private law and other related disciplines and discusses the issues related to these fields and establishes an effective communication showing their competence in the field.Using a foreign language at least at European Language Portfolio C1 General Level to follow up the knowledge in the field of law and communicate and discuss with colleagues.It establishes functional interaction by using planned decision-making processes in solving problems affecting social life arising from the theory and practice of law.Students act in the way of disseminating the concept of honesty, justice and ethics required by being a lawyer and dominating the society.By introducing the values in the field of law to the society, it contributes to the establishment and maintenance of the consciousness of law and justice in the society.

Application Requirements for PhD in Private Law are as follows:•Candidates with a foreign citizenship and Turkish citizens who completed their studies in a foreign country must apply for overseas quota•Candidates who completed their studies in Turkey must apply for domestic quotaApplications For Domestic Quota:1. Candidates must have completed their graduate studies and an LLM program with thesis in Turkey.2. ALES: Applicants must have at least 60 points in equiponderant, verbal or numeric. GRE or GMAT are equivalent to ALES and are also accepted.3. Foreign Language Proficiency: Applicants must prove the level of their proficiency in german with YDS (or equivalent exam result). YDS exam result must be at least 75/100.4. Grade Point Average: No minimum GPA has been set for the application.Applications For Overseas Quota:1. Candidates must have completed their graduate studies and an LLM program with thesis in Turkey or must have graduated from a higher education institution that is recognized by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and teaches in German. Applicants who pass the first state exam in Germany (1. Staatsexamen) are considered to meet this requirement.2. Foreign Language Proficiency: Applicants who completed their studies in a high school or university in a country where german is the native language are exempt from the foreign language score condition. Applicants who do not meet these requirements are obligated to take a German exam that is conducted by Turkish- German University.3. Grade Point Average: No minimum GPA has been set for the application.The evaluation of the application depends on the type of quota applied;For the applications from the domestic quota, the candidate must get a total of 70 points. This score is calculated by taking 50% of the ALES (or equivalent) exam score, 20% of the GPA and 30% of the interview grade.For the applications from the international quota, the candidate must get a total of 70 points. This score is calculated by taking 50% of GPA and 50% of the interview grade.

Students who successfully complete this program may continue their academic career or become practitioners.
