• Having extensive knowledge about the relationship between periodontal diseases and the systematic status, and managing the periodontal issues of medically controlled patients.
• Having extensive knowledge about regenerating and repairing soft and hard tissue, as well as healing principles.
• Understanding the structure of biomaterials used in periodontal treatment and the usage areas.
• Having full knowledge and skill regarding surgical and non-surgical periodontal treatment and implant treatment.
• Having extensive knowledge about all the surgical techniques used in periodontology, and the indications, contraindications, advantages, and disadvantages regarding these techniques.
• Having knowledge about the biology of peri-implant tissues, as well as extensive knowledge about the osteointegration process.
• Practicing mechanical, surgical, and/or antimicrobial treatments of peri-implant pathologies.
• Recognize the technical equipment, devices and tools and materials that are specific to diagnosis and treatment in the field of periodontology and uses it effectively.

The principles for determining the success of the course are: 1. Exams are evaluated from 100 points 2. In formal postgraduate programs, the passing grade is calculated as the total of midterm grade point average (40%) and the semester final exam (60%).In doctoral programs, the grade is at least 75 points out of 100 points.

Being a graduate of the Faculty of Dentistry, ALES score of the program applied to the program is not less than 55 points provided by the Senate must have ALES score to be determined. It is necessary to get at least 55 points from the international foreign language exams which are accepted as equivalent by the central foreign language examinations accepted by the Council of Higher Education.

Individuals with a PhD in Periodontology can pursue their academic careers.
