The mission of this program is defined as educating students to become qualified psychologists who are aware of the diversities and realities of the country and the world, live in close contact with the community, have broad and flexible understanding of the world, approach events critically, analytically and creatively and contribute to the scientific knowledge in global standards. Basically the department’s education program has been prepared to create environments for high level of active involvement in research and application, undergraduate research opportunities and internship, volunteer community work opportunities and the theoretical knowledge required with its innovative courses. Educational objectives of our department:

• To train individuals who are equipped with theoretical knowledge in fundamental concepts in psychology and specialization fields, and practice skills;
• Able to design, apply, analyze, interpret and report correlative and experimental research studies;
• Aware of the limits of their competency and professional ethics;
• Have sense of responsibility, sensitivity and awareness towards social processes;
• Have ability to work in a team or individually, follow up contemporary professional developments and establish effective communication.

Education progresses in the forms of formal, open, or distance education. In addition, practical education is provided through internship studies, or professional training at laboratories and workshops within higher education institutions or in the industry, at health care institutions, and workplaces.

• Have a comprehensive understanding of basic psychological perspectives and to examine the mental, affective, and behavioral processes of human beings within a scientific discipline
• Have a knowledge about the historical and philosophical developments, basic concepts, applications and schools of science of psychology as well as the subfields of psychology such as clinical, experimental, social, developmental, industrial, health, traffic and educational psychology
• Gain skills in identifying, describing, formulating, and solving the problems related to basic mental, emotional, and behavioral problems of human beings
• Develop new ideas through analytical, critical, and creative point of view by using abstract concepts and to gain skills in evaluating different psychological phenomena
• Gain knowledge and skills in transforming his/her theoretical knowledge into practice in different fields of psychology
• Have skills in accessing knowledge and using resources
• Have knowledge about basic principles of psychological assessment along with various quantitative, qualitative, and experimental research methods, to have skills in designing and conducting research by using these methods, and analyzing, reporting, and presenting research data
• Have awareness of interpersonal sensitivity, societal processes and problems
• Have efficient written and oral communication skills in Turkish and English
• Gain skills in following the developments in the field of expertise and renewing himself/herself with an awareness of life-span learning
• Have professional and ethical responsibility, knowledge, and awareness

The student possesses the following key competences at an advanced level.

• Measurement and evaluation methods, exam types and their contribution to the course grade are determined by the senates of higher education institutions in accordance with the basic principles determined by the Higher Education Council (YÖK).
• Various methods are used for the purposes of measurement and evaluation, such as homework, projects, practice sessions, midterm and final exams.
• Letter- and/ or number-based grading systems are used to evaluate student success.

In order to monitor the quality of higher education programs;

· YÖK is responsible for the planning, organization, management and supervision of education and other activities at higher education institutions.

· “University Monitoring and Evaluation Reports” of higher education institutions are prepared and published every year within the framework of the criteria determined by YÖK. Reports prepared on these documents, containing quantitative and qualitative evaluations for higher education institutions, are publicized by YÖK.

· The “Report on Foundation Higher Education Institutions” which includes academic, administrative and financial data regarding foundation higher education institutions is published annually by YÖK. These reports including quantitative and qualitative evaluations of foundation higher education institutions are publicized by YÖK. Quality assurance of undergraduate programs in higher education is provided according to the “Procedures and Principles on Quality Assurance regarding the Diploma Programs in Higher Education”:

 1. Creation and Authorization of Education Programs:

1.1. YÖK determines the minimum standards and criteria required to initiate undergraduate degree departments and programs at higher education institutions.

1.2. The curricula of undergraduate degree programs at higher education institutions, as well as the learning outcomes to be expected in relation to students are determined by the senates of higher education institutions in accordance with the relevant basic principles determined by YÖK.

1.3. The curricula of National Core Education Programs is implemented by higher education institutions with the approval of YÖK, upon their acceptance by the relevant Council of Deans.

 2. Measurement and Evaluation: The  measurement and evaluation processes on the learning outcomes to be expected for each undergraduate degree program in relation to students are undertaken in accordance with the regulations on education and examination prepared by higher education institutions in accordance with the relevant basic principles determined by YÖK.

3. Documentation: Upon successful completion of their course credits, as well as other obligations determined by higher education institutions, students enrolled in undergraduate degree programs receive a bachelor’s degree.

4. Self-Evaluation - External Evaluation: In the context of continuous monitoring, higher education institutions upload their “Institution Internal Evaluation Reports” of the previous year into the Information System prepared by the Higher Education Quality Board (THEQC) at the beginning of each year. The “Institutional Feedback Report” by THEQC regarding the external evaluation of higher education institutions is then publicized. In addition, accreditation decisions made by accreditation bodies authorized or recognized by THEQC also show that the quality assurance is ensured for the qualifications of these programs. THEQC undertakes regular reviews on the qualifications determined in accordance with their legislation.5. • Within the framework of the regulations determined by the Higher Education Council (YÖK), students are admitted into this program via the Higher Education Transition Examination (YGS) and the Undergraduate Degree Placement Examination (LYS) organized by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).
• Once students finalize their preferred programs lists, they are placed into the relevant programs by the Student Selection and Placement Center based on their exam scores.    

• Holders of bachelor's degrees may continue with graduate degree programs, and then, if they meet the relevant conditions, with doctorate degree and proficiency in art programs requiring a bachelor’s degree for admission.
• Undergraduate students have the right to participate in double major programs opened by their higher education institutions. Students enrolled in double major programs may take courses from two degree programs simultaneously, and receive two separate undergraduate degrees, if completed successfully.
• The working scope of psychology graduates are very broad and various. Our graduates can work in hospitals, clinics, guidance, special education and research centers, advertising, public relations, human resources, of various institutions, kindergartens, university and high school counselling centers.Psychology graduates can work at schools as guidance and counselling teachers if they receive a teaching certificate.
