The aim of Istanbul Kültür University Psychology Undergraduate Program is to educate students who have the ability to use theoretical and practical knowledge in general and specialized areas of psychology in the problem solving process, who have the ability to design, apply, analyze and interpret research, who have developed professional ethics awareness, who have gained social sensitivity and responsibility awareness, and who have self-management skills.

Learning takes place in the form of formal, open or distance education. In addition, practical training is carried out in laboratories and ateliers within higher education institutions or as internships or workplace training in industry, health institutions and workplaces. Full scholarship is available..

The success status of the students of the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Istanbul Kültür University is determined according to the provisions of the ‘Istanbul Kültür University Associate and Undergraduate Education and Training Regulations’.

- In a semester, students are given at least one midterm exam, one final exam and a final make-up exam from each course except for graduation project, project, internship and similar courses. If the instructor deems appropriate, homework, laboratory and similar studies can be evaluated as midterm exams and the results are announced to the students via ÖBYS within the period specified in the academic calendar. At the end of each semester, the results of the mid-term and final exams or final make-up exams, mid-term studies and attendance are taken into consideration. The relevant instructor is authorised to determine the weights. The instructor announces the evaluation criteria to the students at the beginning of the semester and informs the relevant department / programme head.

- Workplace practices or internships are applied according to the principles determined by the Senate. All students, including students who have succeeded in all courses in the education programme, who have not completed their internship work until the beginning of each semester or who have failed, must renew their registration on the dates specified in the academic calendar and register for workplace practices or internships.

- Except for those who have fulfilled the graduation requirement, students who have a grade below C in the courses they are enrolled in at the end of the relevant semester can participate in the semester-end make-up exam. The highest grade at the end of the relevant semester is the success grade.

Achievement grades

- Students are given one of the following letter grades for each course they are enrolled in by the instructor of the course:

is defined as.

- A student who receives a grade of F and Z in any course is considered unsuccessful in that course.

- A grade of F is given to a student who cannot take the final exam of a course.

- A grade of E is given to the student who has deficiencies in the semester studies even though he/she takes the final exams. The student must complete the deficiencies within ten days from the date of the final exam of that course. The extension of this period is decided by the head of the relevant department/programme upon the application of the student and the approval of the relevant instructor and notifies the Registrar's Office. The student who completes the necessary work within this period is given a success grade, and the grade of the student who fails to complete the work turns into F.

- The grade V is given to the student who withdraws from the course.

- If students who have transferred, left or graduated from other higher education institutions register to the University and request exemption from the courses they have previously taken, the courses accepted as equivalent in accordance with the provisions of the relevant legislation are given a success grade according to the grade conversions accepted by the Senate.

- The principles of conversion of grades in other systems to the University grading system are determined by the Senate.

- Students' achievement grades, CGPAs and total credit updates are announced on ÖBYS on the date specified in the academic calendar.

- Students who want to determine whether there is an evaluation error in the grades apply to the Registrar's Office within two working days on the dates announced in the academic calendar. The applications are evaluated by a commission consisting of at least three faculty members / lecturers / instructors established by the relevant department / programme directorate within three working days from the deadline of the applications. The result is notified to the Office of the Registrar through the dean's office, vocational school directorate or the Rectorate.

- In case of any error in the grades, the relevant instructor must notify the dean's office or directorate where the student is enrolled with a justified letter to the dean's office or directorate until the end-of-semester make-up exam dates of the relevant semester at the latest. The result is notified to the Registrar's Office by the relevant dean's office or directorate.

- The success status of the students is monitored with the GPA calculated by using the success grades of the courses they have taken in the semester they have completed and the CGPA calculated by using the success grades of all the courses they have taken in the education programme they are enrolled in.

- The GPA is calculated by dividing the sum of the numbers found by multiplying the coefficients corresponding to the success grades obtained by the student from each of the courses followed that semester and the ECTS credit values of the courses by the sum of the ECTS credit values of the same courses. CGPA, on the other hand, is calculated with the same method by taking into account all the courses that the student has taken and exempted since the beginning of the education programme in which the student is enrolled. GPA and CGPA are expressed as two digits after the dot.

- Students with a CGPA of 2.00 and higher are considered successful students. Successful students can take a maximum of 16 ECTS credits in addition to the normal course load of the current semester. However, compulsory internships are not included in the extra course load.

- Students with a CGPA lower than 2.00 are considered to be successful students. Successful students cannot take more than the normal course load of the current semester, excluding internships.

- The normal duration of associate degree education programmes at the University is four semesters and the normal duration of undergraduate education programmes is eight semesters. Foreign language preparatory classes are not included in these periods.

To monitor the quality of higher education programmes;

- YÖK is responsible for the planning, organisation, management and supervision of education and training and other activities carried out in higher education institutions.

- ‘University Monitoring and Evaluation Reports’ of higher education institutions prepared every year within the framework of the criteria determined by CoHE are published. The reports prepared according to these reports, which include quantitative and qualitative evaluations of higher education institutions, are shared with the public by YÖK.

- Every year, YÖK publishes the ‘Foundation Higher Education Institutions Report’ containing academic, administrative and financial data of foundation higher education institutions. These reports, which include quantitative and qualitative evaluations of foundation higher education institutions, are shared with the public by YÖK.

Quality assurance of undergraduate programmes in higher education is ensured according to the ‘Procedures and Principles for Ensuring Quality Assurance of Higher Education Diploma Programmes’:

1. Creation and Approval of Curricula:

1.1. YÖK determines the minimum standards and criteria required for the opening of undergraduate departments and programmes in higher education institutions.

1.2. The curriculum of undergraduate programmes in higher education institutions and the learning outcomes to be achieved by each programme are determined by the senates of higher education institutions in accordance with the basic principles set by YÖK on these issues.

1.3. The curricula of the National Core Education Programmes are adopted by the relevant Council of Deans and implemented by higher education institutions with the approval of YÖK.

2. Assessment and Evaluation: How the learning outcomes of each undergraduate programme will be measured and evaluated is determined in accordance with the basic principles determined by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).

The programme is carried out according to the education, training and examination regulations prepared by higher education institutions.

3. Certification: Students enrolled in undergraduate programmes receive an undergraduate diploma upon successful completion of course credits and other obligations determined by higher education institutions.

4. Self-Assessment-External Evaluation: Higher education institutions, in the context of continuous monitoring, enter the ‘Institutional Internal Evaluation Reports’ of the previous year at the beginning of each year into the Information System prepared by the Higher Education Quality Board (YÖKAK). YÖKAK shares the ‘Institutional Feedback Report’ prepared for the external evaluation of higher education institutions with the public. In addition, accreditation decisions given by accreditation bodies authorised or recognised by YÖKAK also indicate that the quality assurance of the qualifications of the programmes is ensured. YÖKAK carries out regular review activities regarding the qualifications determined in accordance with the legislation.

1. To graduate from secondary education institutions or foreign secondary education institutions whose equivalence is approved by the Ministry of National Education and to meet the admission requirements for undergraduate programmes of higher education institutions.

2. To be placed in the relevant undergraduate programme of the higher education institution as a result of the central examination conducted by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM), whose procedures and principles are determined by YÖK.
