The general purpose of the Art Education Department Undergraduate Program is to train art educators who have basic theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of visual arts, who are competent to apply the basic principles of art in various art disciplines, who adopt contemporary teaching methods and approaches as well as basic pedagogical knowledge and skills, who can plan and implement teaching processes compatible with current teaching programs, who are culturally equipped, who have artistic sensitivity and an aesthetic perspective, and who can reflect these qualities to their environment.

There are Painting, Sculpture, Ceramics, Graphics, Textile, Photography, and Original Printing workshops, three classrooms, one drama workshop, and one exhibition hall. In addition, out-of-school learning environments are used during the education-training process.

• Deepens artistic knowledge and skills to achieve proficiency in a specific field of visual arts.
• Acquires basic knowledge and skills in various visual art fields in addition to a specialized area to become a well-equipped visual arts teacher.
• Comprehends the connections between art and various disciplines, either directly or indirectly.
• Gains knowledge about the historical development of art from its beginnings to the present day in both local and universal contexts.
• Applies foundational practical knowledge of the field competently based on artistic skills acquired through education.
• Utilizes scientific research principles and methods to solve professional challenges encountered.
• Employs current teaching technologies and materials effectively to meet the needs of visual arts education and students.
• Understands the aesthetic and historical values of art and craft products that reflect the national and spiritual values of Turkish culture.
• Plans and implements professional projects and activities for the social environment with a sense of social responsibility.

• Plans specific lessons through knowledge and skills acquired in the program, integrating both in-class and extracurricular applications; manages, monitors, and evaluates the learning-teaching process.

• In the types of evaluation used in the department; in addition to traditional calculations and evaluation solutions, alternative evaluation approaches suitable for original and analytical methods specific to the field of visual arts are adopted.
• In theoretical courses such as field education, professional knowledge and general culture courses, open parts or existing elective tools, in the process, given, project, presentation, etc. evaluation methods are used.
• In workshop courses, information and content are evaluated through products. In the evaluation of student data, various tools and methods such as projects, performance rates, portfolios, grading scales, self, peer and group evaluation, partial elective, open models, homework and concept maps are used.
• The effect of a midterm exam on the raw success grade in a branch is 40%, and the effect of a semester/year-end or make-up exam is 60%. Exams and evaluation processes are carried out in accordance with Bursa Uludag University Regulation on Associate and Undergraduate Education
• Each student must register for the courses at the beginning of the semester and at least 70% of the theoretical courses in order to take the final exam, must have attended at least 80% of the applied courses.
• Students must take at least 1 midterm and final exam for each course are subjected.
•  In general, the success grade is based on the midterm exam (homework, laboratory exam, including measurement tools such as quizzes etc.) contribute 40%, The contribution of the final exam is 60%.
• All exams are evaluated out of 100 points.
• Evaluation is done as absolute or relative evaluation.

To oversee the quality of higher education programs;

- YÖK is responsible for the planning, organization, management and supervision of education and training and other activities carried out in higher education institutions.

- “University Monitoring and Evaluation Reports” of higher education institutions are published every year within the framework of the criteria determined by YÖK. The reports prepared according to these reports, including quantitative and qualitative evaluations of higher education institutions, are shared with the public by YÖK.

Quality assurance of undergraduate programs in higher education is ensured according to the “Procedures and Principles for Ensuring Quality Assurance of Higher Education Diploma Programs”:

1. Creation and Approval of Curricula:

1. YÖK determines the minimum standards and criteria required for the opening of undergraduate departments and programs in higher education institutions.

2. The curriculum of undergraduate programs in higher education institutions and the learning outcomes that each program will provide to the student are determined by the senates of higher education institutions in accordance with the basic principles determined by YÖK on these issues.

3. The curricula of the National Core Curricula are approved by the relevant Council of Deans and implemented by higher education institutions with the approval of the Council of Higher Education.

2. Assessment and Evaluation:  The measurement and evaluation of the learning outcomes of each undergraduate program is carried out according to the education and training and examination regulations prepared by higher education institutions in accordance with the basic principles determined by YÖK on these issues.

3. Certification: Students enrolled in undergraduate programs, if they successfully complete the course credits and other obligations determined by higher education institutions; receive an undergraduate diploma.

 Self-Assessment-External Evaluation: Higher education institutions, in the context of continuous monitoring, enter the “Institutional Internal Evaluation Reports” of the previous year into the Information System prepared by the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) at the beginning of each year. YÖKAK shares the “Institutional Feedback Report” prepared for the external evaluation of higher education institutions with the public. In addition, accreditation decisions issued by accreditation bodies authorized or recognized by YÖKAK also indicate that the quality assurance of the qualifications of the programs is ensured. YÖKAK conducts regular review activities regarding the qualifications determined in accordance with the legislation.

Bursa Uludağ University continues to provide services in accordance with the YÖKAK criteria by structuring internal quality assurance mechanisms. It participated in the Institutional Accreditation Program in 2022, and then received the "2-year Conditional Accreditation Certificate" with the field evaluation conducted by YÖKAK in December 2022. In order to achieve our full accreditation goal, the "BUÜ Improvement Plan" was prepared by the Quality Commission by focusing on the improvement areas specified in the 2022 KAP report. In this plan, the areas that received 3 points in the RUBRİK evaluation were addressed as a priority, and activities were considered to develop the areas that received 4 points. Although organizational changes occurred with the change of Rector in June 2023, the studies continued without slowing down with the culture and ownership created in quality studies. As in the previous period, our goal in the 2025 interim evaluation is to bring the "5-year Full Accreditation Certificate" to our university with the studies to be carried out with the leadership and support of Bursa Uludağ University Senior Management. The plans made and activities carried out during this process contributed to the expansion of the institution's quality assurance system.

In the admission of students to the Art and Crafts Teaching Program, two methods are used: the Higher Education Institutions Exam conducted by ÖSYM and the special talent exam conducted by our university. In applications to teaching programs that accept students with special talent exams, students must have a minimum of 800,000th success rank in the Placement Basic Proficiency Test (Y-TYT) score, which also includes the school score. In the admission of students with special talent exams, a practical exam is conducted that includes charcoal drawing work or charcoal drawing work based on observation in order to measure the artistic skills required by the field. Candidates who receive less than 50 points in the special talent exam are considered unsuccessful. In the calculation of the program entrance score, the High School Success Score, the Placement Basic Proficiency Test Score, which includes the school score, and the Special Talent Exam Score are calculated and the main and reserve lists are determined according to the ranking.

• Undergraduate students can take courses from two diploma programs simultaneously with the double major program and receive two separate undergraduate diplomas if they are successful.
• Our students who graduate from our department can work as Visual Arts teachers after passing the KPSS exam and being appointed.
• They can provide their academic development with master's, doctorate or art proficiency programs and work as academicians at universities.
• Our graduate students can find the opportunity to work in the private sector by becoming competent in the workshop training they receive and in addition, they can perform their art as professional artists in the contemporary art environment. They can also work as designers in textile companies, advertising agencies or different sectors or continue their professional careers as instructors in their own fields in private courses, private workshops and municipalities.
