There are some different fields of science such as education and psychology which have theories that have an impact on teaching Russian language and their reflections on language education can be internalized. They will be able to read, interpret and explain the background, structure and the meaning of literary texts by using the information on the history, theories and methods of academic disciplines.They will be able to use learning and teaching techniques more effectively. They will be able to comprehend the phonological, morphological, semantic, and etymological features of Russian. They will be able to have knowledge about historical linguistics, pragmatics, semantics, morphology, semiotics, psycholinguistics and related areas. They will be able to have knowledge about literary terminology, critical approaches and methods. They will be able to interpret the history, the period and the most important works of Russian literature, and compare the Russian literature with other literatures.They will be able to work accordance with scientific by using the forms of descriptive, argumentative or persuasive writing They will have information about critical techniques and terminology and will analyze literary texts using this information. They will able to make literary, artistic and textual views in an international community.Within academic disciplines (metaphoric awareness, interpretation of symbols, thematic development and recognition of the deep structure, etc.) insights styles (cinema, television, advertising industry etc.) can be applied to other areas. They will be able to understand the theories of second language acquisition, the problems and solutions in this field. They will be able to evaluate logical relationship between form and content in Russian literature. PhD students of the department will able to use powerful communication and organization skills which will help them to express effectively themselves in their field. They will be able to enter into verbal and written communication by using the principles of writing, stylistic, rhetorical references and bibliographies.They will win translation competence in the areas requiring translation expertise.They will be able to compare Russian culture with Turkish culture and research about these cultures.

It is compulsory to have at least 70% attendance for each graduate course in a semester . Achievement is measured through in term assessment (assignments, midterm exams) and with final exams. Examinations are applied in various ways as written, oral, or both written and oral, and/or practictise. At least one midterm exam is to be given for each course. Detailed explanations regarding the assessment and evaluation in the courses take place in the course information page. Examinations are assessed through grades out of 100. Passing grade is calculated by adding the 30% of the average of midterm exam grades to the 70% of the Final or make up exam. In Ph.D. Programs passing grade is at least 75 out of 100 and 2,5 BC out of 4. Success in elective courses, special field courses, seminars and dissertation studies is indicated by using G (passed) or B (succeeded). While calculating average passing grade the courses defined as passed (G), succeeded (B) exempted (M) are not taken in to consideration. To be admitted to the Ph.D. program, candidates are required: 1.To have either a 5-year undergraduate diploma or Master’s Diploma in the field determined by the executive board of Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences for admition. 2- To have received at least 55 (social) points in the ALES (Academic graduate education examination). 3- To have obtained at least 55 points from UDS or KPDS or the equivalent of this point from an equivalent foreign language exam (TOEFL, etc) 4- To have obtained at least 65 points upon summing up 60% of the ALES (social) points and 20% of under graduate AGNO (Undergraduate Nominal Grade Average), and 20% of graduate AGNO (graduate Nominal Grade Average). 5-To take place among the candidates with the highest grades who are listed beginning from the highest points, considering the number of the students to be admitted. 6- To have completed successfully the science preparatory class in 1 year if admitted with the requirement to attendant science preparatory class. 7- Students from other nationalities are required to have knowledge of Turkish language at B2 level (or 70 out of 100 achievement) according to ELP (European Language Portfolio). 8- Students from the Arabic Language and Literature Departments in other universities are also admitted providing that they meet the requirements of interuniversities students transfer. 9.Requirements for application and admission to the program are announced in the website of The Graduate School of Social Sciences before each academic term has began.

The students who have graduated from the program Department of Russian Language and Literature primarily can work as academics in higher education institutions. In addition, can work as experts in the State archives, in various positions in various ministries.
