Define and discuss the basic theories, concepts and fields of study of health sociology. Use sociological research methods to plan, implement and report research in the field of health sociology. Define, discuss and use the characteristics of branches of Health Social Sciences other than health sociology and the possibilities of cooperation with health sociology. Acquire the necessary equipment and competencies for interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary work, plan, execute or participate in all health social sciences and Health Sciences. Follow national and international intellectual and scientific developments in the field of expertise from various original sources and interpret them from a critical point of view. Follow the changes and developments in the field of Health in the country and discuss their interaction with other social processes. Examine and discuss the effects of social changes and developments in the country on health. Acquire the necessary activities to publish the knowledge and research they have acquired in their field of expertise and present it at scientific conferences. Reveal their sensitivity to social events and problems by taking their duties and responsibilities in selected research subjects and application-oriented activities. Improve their attitude about lifelong learning and development. Act in accordance with the technical and ethical rules of Social Sciences in their research, relations with people and institutions in society, and in the sharing and use of scientific knowledge. Act in a particular manner that are free from discrimination in the face of social and Individual Differences. Plan or take part in Social Responsibility activities. Use their knowledge and skills effectively in team work and take initiative. Evaluate the sociological point of view obtained in the field of expertise in business life and reflect in their implementations. Show that they have the knowledge and competencies in accordance with international standards in their field of expertise Reveal their the level of knowledge required for admission to PhD education in Turkey and in various countries of the world.

The measurement and evaluation methods applied for each course are defined in the “course instruction plan”. Final exams are held in the date range determined according to the academic calendar announced by Acıbadem University Graduate School of Social Sciences at the beginning of the year. The instructors evaluate all the studies, assignments, projects, presentations, mid-term exams and final exams in the semester and determine the grades of the students according to the passing grade system determined by the Institute.Dec. Students are informed in advance which measurement methods will be used in each course. To receive a masters degree, the students received a passing grade in all courses in the program (FF, FG, NA, and U the absence of grades) achieved a total of 120 ECTS credits, the thesis must be at least 2.70 and a GPA of 4.00, must successfully complete.

In order to apply for this Graduate Program, candidates must have a bachelors degree which is compliant with Higher Education Council (YÖK) and Acıbadem University Graduate School of Social Sciences or Health Sciences Students are admitted to the masters program by evaluating their undergraduate success level, Written Exam, Interview and ALES results. The candidate must have received a minimum of 55 standard points from the academic personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Examination (Ales) in the type of equal weight score and must have a minimum of 65 (2,5/4) Graduation Achievement grade. A minimum score of 55 from public exams (YDS, UDS, YÖKDIL or KPDS) for foreign language, a minimum score of 66 from TOEFL iBT, A minimum score of 50 from PTE Academic exam, a minimum score of C from CPE and CAE exams is required. For the candidates who do not have language proficiency, the Foreign Language exam will be conducted by the Department of Sociology. In the evaluation for admission, the candidates are ranked according to their overall grade of achievement. The overall grade is calculated by collecting 50% of the ALES score, 20% of the weighted average of the grades taken during undergraduate education, and 30% of the average of the Written Exam and interview scores to be given by the evaluation board. Those with an equal overall grade are given priority to those with a high grade point average. Turkish English and other candidates can apply to the program only with a very good level of English is expected by the University Senate.

Health sociology is a rapidly developing field with rich research and application opportunities. Because sociology is a core science, students who pursue a masters degree mostly aim for an academic career. Students who have completed the Masters program with thesis in sociology of health can also continue to any sociology or other social science doctoral program. If they do not want to pursue an academic career, they may choose to work primarily in the field of health as a researcher, educator, consultant or administrator. Other options may be to work in local governments, social services or non-governmental organizations. As sociology is not a purely academic field, it can be expected that the demand for graduates of sociology will continue to increase, as it is a relatively new concept in our country where it can also benefit for application purposes.
