• The aim of the Social Studies Teaching Undergraduate Program is to train social studies teachers needed by secondary schools. An education is provided that mainly aims to provide knowledge and skills in various branches of social sciences. It is aimed to ensure that the students who will graduate are equipped with general culture as well as social studies field knowledge and teaching profession knowledge, and to be raised as national and universal individuals who are sensitive to social issues.

• Education and learning is carried out in the form of formal education. General Culture, Teaching Vocational Knowledge, Field Knowledge courses are given in well-equipped environments such as science laboratories, computer laboratories, material, music and drama rooms within the Faculty.

• They will be individuals who have adopted the objectives of Turkish National Education and Atatürk's Principles and Revolutions.
• They will have pedagogical knowledge and skills related to the teaching profession and field, they will know and apply teaching methods and techniques as well as measurement and evaluation methods.
• They will have knowledge on sociology, social psychology, anthropology, history, geography, citizenship, politics, economy, law, archeology, sociology, social psychology, anthropology, politics, etc. at a level that will meet the needs of students in the field of Social Studies Teaching.
• They will have the ability to use information and communication technologies effectively in Social Studies teaching.
• They will have the ability to use Turkish effectively and in accordance with its rules.
• They will have sufficient knowledge about the teaching profession required by Social Studies Teaching.
• They will have a sense of professional and ethical responsibility.
• They will have the ability to do disciplinary and interdisciplinary team work.
• They will be individuals who are sensitive to social problems, follow the agenda and have developed environmental awareness.
• They become individuals with individual working skills, independent decision-making ability, developed self-confidence and high communication skills.
• They can follow developments in science, technology and contemporary issues related to their field by embracing the importance of lifelong learning.
• To be able to understand society, social and cultural values, normsrules and to explain theories and approaches in social sciences.
• To be able to understand the characteristics, values, rights and freedoms, responsibilities and duties of a good citizen and to comprehend democracy, civil, political and social rights.
• To be able to understand the philosophical foundations of social sciences, science, scientific knowledge and scientific method, ontology, philosophy of moral values, philosophy of education, philosophy of politics, philosophy of art, philosophy of religion and to explain different approaches.

Students must attend classes, practices and examinations. Students' attendance is followed by the Instructor concerned. For almost all required and technical elective courses there are written examinations, in which most cases student must solve selected problems by calculation. One midterm examination is given during each semester. Dates of midterm examinations are announced by the Department in the first month of the semester. In addition to midterm examinations and other work, students are required to take a final examination. Final examinations are held at the appropriate place and hour as decided and announced by the Department. Students are given a make-up examination for any examination which they have not attended if it is accepted by the Faculty Administrative Comittee that there exist genuine and valid reasons for this.

The semester grades are determined by adding fourty percent of the midterm exam and sixty percent of the final exam grade. The type and contribution of the educational activities such as reports, homeworks, quizzes, seminar presentations or individual oral discussions, and performance in laboratory work on the assessment are announced by the instructor at the beginning of the semester. In the new assessment system which has been introduced since the academic year of 2004-2005, the semester grades are assessed through Relative Assessment System.

The success states of the students are specified by Grade Point Averages (GPA) and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) computed at the end of each term. (GPA) is the weighted grade average of the term the student is enrolled in. CGPA is the weighted grade average of the students computed by considering all the courses in the course plan of the enrolled department or program starting from the entrance to the university.

(GPA) and (CGPA) are computed with the weighted grade averages. Weighted grade average is obtained by dividing the sum of the product of course credits and the weight coefficients equivalent of the letter grades to the total credit. Both (GPA) and CGPA are determined by adding all the grades students get from credit courses ranging from (AA) to (FF) to assessment. Students whose CGPA value is at least 2.00 are considered successful on condition that no course has been marked as (FF), (FD). Students whose CGPA values are below 2.00 are considered failure. Starting from the end of the second term, Students’ GPAs have to be at least 1.80 to be able to take classes of the upper terms.

For the assessment of success of the students enrolled in before the academic year of 2004-2005, if the final exam and the semester grades exceed 60 or be equal to 60 , the student will be successful from this course. Courses which do not require midterm and/or final examinations are determined by the course teacher. Under these circumstances, the semester grade is given by evaluating the work done throughout the semester. In the nontechnical optional courses, students and lecturer arrange the method of evaluation. The student’s success in these courses is awarded by “successful” in the transcript of records.

To monitor the quality of higher education programs;

• Council of Higher Education (CoHE) is responsible for the planning, organization, management and supervision of education and training and other activities carried out in higher education institutions.

• "University Monitoring and Evaluation Reports" of higher education institutions prepared every year within the framework of the criteria determined by CoHE are published. The reports prepared according to these reports, including quantitative and qualitative evaluations of higher education institutions, are shared with the public by CoHE.

• Every year, CoHE publishes the "Foundation Higher Education Institutions Report", which includes academic, administrative and financial data on foundation higher education institutions. These reports, which include quantitative and qualitative evaluations of foundation higher education institutions, are shared with the public by CoHE.

Quality assurance of undergraduate programs in higher education is provided according to the "Procedures and Principles for Ensuring Quality Assurance of Higher Education Diploma Programs":

1. Creation and Approval of Curricula:

1.1. CoHE determines the minimum standards and criteria required for the opening of undergraduate departments and programs in higher education institutions.

1.2. The curriculum of undergraduate programs in higher education institutions and the learning outcomes that each program will provide to students are determined by the senates of higher education institutions in accordance with the basic principles determined by CoHE on these issues.

1.3. The curricula of the National Core Curricula are adopted by the relevant Council of Deans and implemented by higher education institutions with the approval of the Council of Higher Education.

2. Measurement and Evaluation: The measurement and evaluation of the learning outcomes of each undergraduate program is carried out according to the education and training and examination regulationsprepared by higher education institutions in accordance with the basic principles determined by CoHE on these issues.

3. Documentation: Students enrolled in undergraduate programs, if they successfully complete the course credits and other obligations determined by higher education institutions; receive a bachelor's degree.

4. Self-Assessment-External Evaluation: In the context of continuous monitoring, higher education institutions enter their "Institutional Internal Evaluation Reports" for the previous year into the Information System prepared by the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK) at the beginning of each year. YÖKAK shares the "Institutional Feedback Report" prepared for the external evaluation of higher education institutions with the public. In addition, accreditation decisions issued by accreditation bodies authorized or recognized by YÖKAK also indicate that the quality assurance of the qualifications of the programs is ensured. YÖKAK conducts regular review activities regarding the qualifications determined in accordance with the legislation.

Social Studies Teaching Undergraduate Program is accredited by the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Teacher Education Programs (EPDAD) authorized by the General Council of Higher Education.

• Registration, admission, examination and evaluation procedures of students are carried out in accordance with the Higher Education Law and the decisions and regulations of the Council of Higher Education issued based on this law. At Ege University, registration and admission procedures are carried out by the Student Affairs Department, and information on regulations and directives can be found at https://oidb.ege.edu.tr/ Students are admitted to the Social Studies Teaching Undergraduate Program according to the EA score type from the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) score types.

• Those who have a bachelor's degree can continue to master's programs and, if they meet the relevant requirements, doctorate and proficiency in art programs accepted with a bachelor's degree.
