• The field of Television Reporting and Programming, which is one of the strong elements of communication, is the main actor of information flow, especially in societies where television culture is widespread. The field of Television Reporting and Programming, which provides services in many areas such as entertainment, news and competitions, will firmly maintain its place among the sectors that do not fade away in terms of ease of access, affordability and the diversity it offers. The Department of Television Reporting and Programming trains well-equipped communicators who can apply theoretical knowledge to the field of television news and programming. For this purpose, it gains knowledge and skills in many areas such as critical media literacy, news reporting and editing techniques, news gathering and writing techniques, television broadcasting, programme writing, camera and filming techniques, editing techniques, digital broadcasting applications, which form the basis of communication sciences.

• The courses in the curriculum of the department are carried out in the faculty classrooms and in the workshops and television studio affiliated to the department.

• Interpret the basic concepts, fields of study, theories and approaches of media.
• Explains current information about the field by associating it with communication theories.
• Defines the basic concepts related to communication sciences.
• Interprets current events, political, cultural and economic developments in a critical context by using the theoretical knowledge in the field.
• Associates the knowledge and facts in the field with the fields of social sciences such as Law, Sociology, Advertising, Cinema and Economics.
• Determines new strategies and methods for the technical infrastructure and content of television news and programme types.
• Integrates the theoretical knowledge related to the field with today's technology.
• Produces creative content related to their field.
• Interprets the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired in the field.
• Produces TV programmes for different audiences and shares his/her knowledge and experiences.
• Takes part as a leader or team member in a team work from the production of news to the presentation stage and fulfils the tasks assigned to them within the team.
• Gains basic knowledge of the production processes of the media and the technical infrastructure and creative approaches used in these processes.
• Researches developments, changes and innovations related to the field by accepting lifelong learning as a principle.
• Collaborates with stakeholders in the fields of programming and journalism to create new ideas and products.
• Organises projects and activities for the social environment in which he/she lives with the awareness of social responsibility by following the events on the national and international agenda.
• Follows and interprets written, oral and visual studies related to the agenda.
• Applies knowledge and skills related to the field by taking into account legal, social and ethical responsibilities.
• Demonstrates the characteristics of a media professional such as camera use, editorial process control, team leadership and creative content production.

Graduates of the Department of Television Reporting and Programming have the opportunity to work in almost every field where communication takes place, including public and private broadcasting organisations.

Our graduates, who can work with many titles such as director, journalist, editing director, cameraman, reporter, scriptwriter, announcer, editor, researcher, writer and reviewer, can continue their higher education and pursue an academic career.

Measurement and Evaluation Methods
Although the measurement and evaluation method applied for each course is defined in detail in the "Course Introduction and Application Information", exams, measurement and evaluation and graduation conditions are basically regulated / carried out according to the procedures and principles specified in the Istanbul Gelisim University Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations. In this direction, the exams that the programme students will / are likely to participate in are midterm exams, semester / year-end exams, make-up exams, single course exams and make-up exams.

- The grade scale is applied as specified in the IGU Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations. The student must have succeeded in all courses in the programme and must not have a grade of FF or D. In this programme, the student is required to provide a minimum of 240 ECTS credits and have a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and complete a compulsory summer internship of 30 working days.

- Measurement and evaluation is carried out according to the criteria under the title of Section Four of the IGU Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulations:

ARTICLE 22 - (1) For each course taken by students, one of the following letter grades is assigned by the instructor as the final course grade;

b) Grades not included in the average are as follows:

1) G (Pass) grade is given to students who are successful in non-credit courses in the curriculum.

2) K (Fail) grade is given to students who fail the non-credit courses in the curriculum.

3) Grade D (Absent) is given to students who fail because they cannot fulfil their obligations regarding attendance or course practices. D grade is treated like FF grade in grade point average calculation.

To monitor the quality of higher education programmes;

- YÖK is responsible for the planning, organisation, management and supervision of education and training and other activities carried out in higher education institutions.

- "University Monitoring and Evaluation Reports" of higher education institutions prepared every year within the framework of the criteria determined by CoHE are published. The reports prepared according to these reports, which include quantitative and qualitative evaluations of higher education institutions, are shared with the public by YÖK.

- Every year, YÖK publishes the "Foundation Higher Education Institutions Report" containing academic, administrative and financial data of foundation higher education institutions. These reports, which include quantitative and qualitative evaluations of foundation higher education institutions, are shared with the public by YÖK.

Quality assurance of undergraduate programmes in higher education is ensured according to the "Procedures and Principles for Ensuring Quality Assurance of Higher Education Diploma Programmes":

1. Creation and Approval of Curricula:

1.1. YÖK determines the minimum standards and criteria required for the opening of undergraduate departments and programmes in higher education institutions.

1.2. The curriculum of undergraduate programmes in higher education institutions and the learning outcomes to be gained by the students in each programme are determined by the senates of higher education institutions in accordance with the basic principles determined by YÖK.

1.3. The curricula of the National Core Education Programmes are adopted by the relevant Council of Deans and implemented by higher education institutions with the approval of the Council of Higher Education.

2. Assessment and Evaluation: The measurement and evaluation of the learning outcomes of each undergraduate programme shall be carried out in accordance with the basic principles determined by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).

Central Admission

The registration of students to associate and undergraduate programmes is carried out within the framework of the regulations determined by the Higher Education Institution and through the central examination system. Students who graduate from secondary education institutions are placed in the programmes they want to study according to the scores they get from the central exam.

As a result of the YGS (Higher Education Transition Examination) and LYS (Undergraduate Placement Examination) conducted by OSYM, students who prefer and settle in any programme of Gelişim Vocational School or Gelişim University Faculty of Fine Arts, Faculty of Architecture and Engineering or Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences are entitled to enroll in our school.

Additional Quota

After the central placement made by OSYM, the vacant quotas in higher education institutions, (except for AÖF programmes without quota) those who want to apply to our school from the candidates who have not been placed in any higher education institution by OSYM, are required to include Gelişim University in the preferences they will make on the dates to be announced by OSYM. Students who are placed in our school by OSYM gain the right to register.

Lateral Transfer

Horizontal transfers to Istanbul Gelisim Vocational School are carried out according to the provisions of the "Regulation on the Principles of Horizontal Transfer between Higher Education Institutions at the Associate Degree Level". Horizontal transfer and admission procedures from other Vocational Schools to our school are made with the decision of the "Vocational School Board". Students can apply to the Registrar's Office for transfer to another programme within the University within the periods specified in the academic calendar. Applications are finalised with the recommendation of the department to which the student wants to transfer and the decision of the relevant board of directors.

In addition, the following items are defined as general admission requirements:

- High school diploma

- To be enrolled through National Student Selection and Placement exams

- For associate degree students who have graduated from the same or similar departments of Vocational Schools, to be enrolled through the Vertical Transfer exam

- For foreign students, to have applied and been placed directly to the University; to have been evaluated by the University within the framework of the publicly available national and institutional regulations specified on the University's website

• Those with a bachelor's degree can continue their studies in master's degree programmes and, if they meet the relevant requirements, in doctorate and proficiency in art programmes accepted with a bachelor's degree.
• Undergraduate students have the right to participate in double major programmes offered by the higher education institutions where they are studying. Students enrolled in double major programmes can take courses from two diploma programmes simultaneously and if they are successful, they can receive two separate undergraduate diplomas.
