After spending over forty years in the field of education, next to Arı Primary School and Arı High School, an investment in higher education and research as well became inevitable. This endeavour was realized through the collaboration and genuine contribution of all the teaching and administrative staff as well as the thousands of young people who have attended these schools and also their parents. In fact, this was the source of the motivation that led to the establishment of Çankaya University, the last link in our educational project.

On 9 July 1997, Sıtkı Alp Education Foundation was ratified through the Turkish National Assembly decree number 4282 which was published in the Official News Paper number 23050, dated 15 July 1997. The official establishment of Çankaya University was finalised through the Higher Education Council decision number 16641, dated 27 August 1997, and the university commenced its functions in the autumn of the same year.

In an age of competition when civilisation and technology have reached their zenith, borders between nations have diminished and now are almost invisible. Each nation is trying to be a centre of excellence. Education, reliable and efficient education, is undoubtedly the basis for such excellence. With this goal in mind, a community of educators trained at academic institutions of high reputation all over the world have been set up. This goal is to train, the students of Çankaya University in the best way possible through well-developed curricula in various fields. This academic institution w ill also provide its graduates with a solidly founded future, where employment opportunities at large will be open. As the founders of the University, it is our sincere hope and desire to interact with all academic and administrative members as well as with the students as members of the same family, that is, Çankaya University. • Gaining the ability to predict the risks that he / she may face in business life and producing solutions to these obstacles,

Profile of the Programme:

Undergraduate curriculum of the Department of International Trade is built on three pillars. First pillar is University must courses. Students in all programs must take these courses.

The second pillar of the program is departmental must courses (core business curriculum). The purpose of departmental must courses is to familiarize the students with the basics of business administration. Departmental must courses consist of Introduction to Business, Introduction to International Trade, Economics, Law etc. that give background knowledge for other business courses. Must courses also include foreign trade financing, transportation, logistics as well as business administration, marketing, economics and strategic management. In addition, students are given opportunities to learn about business life through assignments, projects and required summer training program. Students are also advised, in order to obtain a broader perspective about global markets to select one additional language from German, Russian and Chinese. The medium of instruction in our department is English.

The third pillar of the program is elective courses. Most of the must courses (University and departmental) are taken during the first two years. The third and the fourth years are allocated to elective courses. Elective courses are grouped into three categories. The first group consists of two elective courses that can be taken from the Department of Inter-Curricular Courses. Department of Inter-Curricular Courses offers courses related to sports, arts, foreign languages, and other areas. The second group of elective courses consists of departmental electives. The third group consists of non-departmental electives. Students have the opportunity of taking elective courses from other departments that they are interested in and improving their intellectual capacity.

Assessment and Grading:

These matters are carried out in accordance with Çankaya University Bachelor's and Associate Degrees Regulations.

Recognition of Prior Learning:

Courses taken in other undergraduate programs may be recognized based on the evaluation of the Department in accordance with relevance and the approval of the Faculty Board. All courses taken in other undergraduate programs must be appropriately documented.

Access to Further Studies:

Graduates can apply a master's or an integrated doctorate program in international trade or in a related field. Graduates can also apply a master's or an integrated doctorate program in another field provided that they fulfill the necessary conditions.

Students who are Turkish citizens are placed by the Measurement, Selection, and Placement Center based on the National Student Selection and Placement System. International students are admitted in accordance with the rules of the University.

Students who successfully complete the undergraduate program will have an opportunity to work in Undersecreteriat of Foreign Trade, Capital Markets Board, Turkish Central Bank, Turkish Statistical Institute, Undersecreteriat of Treasury, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Development, Ministry of European Union, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency and Presidency for Turks, Abroad and Related Communities. In addition, to these public organizations, students will have a chance to be employed in multinational companies, logistics, import/export firms and foreign or domestic firms that wish to do business abroad. Moreover, Chambers of Trade and Industry, various research and project development centers are potential areas of employment for our graduates.
