Gözlükçülük alanında çalışacak ana elemanları yetiştirmek. Temel gözlükçülük bilgisine sahip, optisyenlik ile ilgili sistemlerin işleyişini bilen ve uygulayabilen, optisyenlik paket programlarını kullanabilen, göz ve insan anatomisini bilen, bir işletmenin işleyiş ve yönetimini planlayabilen, optik aletleri tanıyıp kullanabilen, çerçeve ve cam seçim ve montajını verilerine uygun yapabilen, işletmenin maliyet hesaplarını ve iş programlarını yapabilen, ürünü pazarlayabilen, genel halk sağlığı bilgisine sahip sağlık teknikerleri yetiştirmektir.
- Optisyenlik mesleği ile ilgili kuramsal ve uygulamalı bilgi donanımına sahiptir.
- Temel epidemiyolojik kavramları öğrenme ve mesleki uygulamalarda bu kavramları uygun biçimde kullanabilme.
- Optisyenlik konusunda, mesleki yetki ve sorumlulukları hakkında bilgi sahibidir.
- Gözlük, kontak lens ve az görme cihazları (teleskopik ürünler vb.) gibi temel görme cihazlar hakkında bilgilere sahiptir.
- Temel görme cihazlarının reçeteye göre seçimi, satışı ve hazırlanmasıyla kullanıcıya adaptasyonunu sağlayabilme.
- Numaralı gözlük camlarını ve kontak lenslerin diyoptrisini ölçebilme ve bunların montajı için gerekli ayarları yapabilme.
- Gözlüğün hazırlanması için gerekli ekipmanları, gereçleri ve makineleri kullanabilme.
- Temel optik aletler hakkında yeterli bilgiye sahip olabilme.
- Temel matematik, Kimya, Fizik ve Geometrik Optik alanlarında genel bilgilere sahip olabilme.
- Göz, Göz Anatomisi, Göz Fizyolojisi, Göz Hastalıkları, Görme Sağlığı ve Genel Halk Sağlığı alanlarında temel bilgilere sahip olabilme.
- Genel ve mesleki yazılım programlarını, hastane otomasyon sistemlerini kullanabilme.
- Optisyenlik alanı ile ilgili olarak kongre, seminer, konferans, sempozyum vb. etkinliklere katılır ve çözüm önerileri geliştirir.
